It seems as though the publics obsession with fly on the wall business documentaries is still there with the start on BBC2 of The Restaurant.
As a self confessed nerd who watches all of these programs as I sat down to watch this weeks first two episodes I wondered whether there actually were any serious lessons that could be learnt...
I have been critical of some TV programs that I feel have glamourised self employment and the entrepreneurial spirit without telling the full story of the hard work and dedication that goes into running a successful business.
So I was interested to hear the judges of the restaurant talk about passion and dreams at the start of the program and then later tell contestants that their dreams and concepts must be carried through the whole business from the customer experience to visual branding, menus and food... sounds like good branding advice.
I guess that time will tell but I will continue to watch and hope that nuggets of advice can be taken from these programs.
